2nd day Industrial Training

Today is my second day working/industrial attachment at QL. Dekat seja ba, sana Tuaran, some 10-15 minutes driving from home. Hehe, yesterday was my 1st day, went to report there by 8am and met my supervisor, Mr. Ting the QC & Production manager. A very nice person and caring one!I was a bit shock la because he was my senior!!!Graduated in UMS by the year 2004 as in food technology and bioprocess. So, I have to respect him. Ahha~Extra mark!Etra mark! I was so excited that day; having my very first thumbnails punch (nasib thumbnails sya dpt kena scan, huhu)..then Mr.Ting brief us (my coursemate and I) on the task that we have to perform during this 6 months working. Each one of us would experience working 3 months in the analyses & food microbiology laboratory and another 3 months in the production line. So, for the first 3 months, I will work in the analyses and microbiology lab and I will be assigned with another supervisor there which is Miss Thim. My friend will work in the production line first before they switch us. Then, Mr. Ting introduced me to my assigned supervisor, Miss Thim and 'hand me over' to her. Another big suprise, Miss Thim was also one of my senior there!Graduated in 2006 in my field, food science and nutrition, she is a lovely-friendly-helpfull person I've known so far there. On the first day reporting, she gave me lots of advice and explained to me about the job description together with the syllabus that we will go through during the entire industrial training. It was quite challenging because i have to review back all the lessons i've been thru in 2nd year study. Have to bring back the old memories, revising all the notes, laboratory manual, lab report and so forth. First day, i was asked to prepare the 0.2N 40% NaOH!I know it was hot, but still hot even wearing the gloves!This is so dangerous, the chemicals itself memang menghakis habis la..Unfortunately while doing that, during inversion technique, i accidentally loosen a bit the cap causing it to leak and flow. Luckily lah ada gloves, if not then good bye la to my beautiful hands!hahaha...Then during lunch hour Thim (preferred to be call) asked me to go lunch together with the other officer there including Mr.Ting la..We sat at a table and they began to introduce us to each one of the officer working there. And OMG once again, seems like everyone are my seniors!Graduated in UMS; 3 food technologists, 2 food scientists. No wonder la, they are quite young lagi la, still at the age of 25 above like that la..lucky me cause they have been thru what i've been thru for now and they really understand it. They have been really helpfull la. And today, 2nd day ada juga invitation for a birthday party. The company themself have the initiatives to celebrate those officer whom birthday is coming for the month of Jan, Feb and March. So, makan free la juga. Hehe..The task description for now is to do the protein analysis using the kjeldahl method with advance machine, TVBN (calculation for total nitrogen in the food sample), analyses of moisture, sampling, preparation of chemicals and more to come la in the future. I just wish to do the best for this LI and gain as much as possible the knowledge in the food industry so that I can apply it later..Peace!
